Two killed in tusker attack

Two women were killed in separate incidents of wild elephant attack at Chulachuli in Ilam district on Wednesday morning.

Sub-Inspector Diwakar Katuwal at Chulachuli Police Post said Pritimaya Limbu of Chulachuli-6 and Dhanmaya Lawati of Chulachuli-4 died in the attack of the wild tuskers at around 5 am.

The elephant trampled Limbu to death while she was on her way to fetch water.

Likewise, Lawati was attacked as she was cleaning the courtyard of her house.

Ranjan Limbu, a local, however survived the incident as he managed to flee on time.

According to the villagers, a herd of elephants entered Chulachuli-4 from the western part of the settlement.  

Local people had aided the security personnel of Nepal Army and Nepal Police to chase away the pachyderms to the forest later.
