Bhaktapur to open on monday for tourists

The heritage sites closed following the April 25 earthquake will be opened for tourists from Monday. Uddav Rijal, chief executive officer of the Bhaktapur Municipality said they will open the historical and cultural sites for
observation to promote a message that the area is safe for tourists.
The tourist fee not applied since the quake, however, will be applicable from Monday, Rijal informed.
A total of 67 heritage sites, including temples, sattal, matha and old palaces, were completely destroyed while 49 suffered partial damage in the quakes. Preliminary estimates by the municipality show that the reconstruction of the damaged heritage sites in the city will cost Rs 293.2 million.
