Nepalis help co-workers

Nepali employees of the Meru-based Top Globe Company in Malaysia have provided more than Rs 1 million as relief to fellow employees who lost their homes or family members to the Great Earthquake. The employees formed a Prawasi Hatemalo Yuwa Sangh and collected Rs 1,055,500 among themselves. Each victim was provided with Rs 10,000 to Rs 40,000 cash based on their loss, said Ramesh Bhattarai, one of the campaigners. “Some of our friends have lost their houses and family members to the earthquake and as fellow Nepalis, we decided to help them out,” he said. The amount was collected from Nepalis working in factory Number 2, 9, 19, 20, 22, 24, 25 and 29 of the company. More than 2,000 Nepali people work in the eight factories. (PR)
