Jun 15, 2015-

Nepal defeated Himachal Pradesh in their second consecutive practice match on their preparation tour of India at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala on Monday.

Nepal, who had defeated the same side by five wickets on Sunday, registered a crushing 61-run victory on the back of an unbeaten half century from Gyanendra Malla. The Nepal vice-captain helped Nepal recover from 47-6 as the visitors ended up making 122-7 in 20 overs.

Nepali seamers then did the rest of the job picking up six wickets before bundling out the local side for 61 runs in 14.3 overs. Sompal Kami took first three of the four Himachal Pradesh wickets to fall for just 21 runs. Sumeet Verma (18) and Vikrant Singh (10) offered a brief resistance but once Shakti Gauchan trapped the former leg before wicket, Himachal Pradesh went on to lose their last six wickets for just 17 runs. Jitendra Mukhiya (2-9) and Gauchan (2-8) shared four wickets between them, while Karan KC had one scalp.

Earlier, Nepal lost openers Subash Khakurel (five) and Sagar Pun (four) cheaply, while skipper Paras Khadka and Binod Bhandari made one run each. The collapse continued further when Sharad Vesawkar (11) and Pradeep Airee (duck) also departed without making any significant contributions.

Malla, who had seen wickets fall at the other end, then rescued Nepal with two crucial partnerships. He shared 38 runs for the seventh wicket with Kami, who made a 21-ball 24 with three boundaries. After the departure of Kami, Malla was involved in another crucial 35 runs with Gauchan (nine not out). Malla hit two fours and a six in his 47-ball 52. Kunwar Abhinay picked up three wickets for Himachal Pradesh, while Gurwinder Singh had two scalps.

Nepal are preparing for the upcoming ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers slated for July 9-26 in Ireland and Scotland.
