Around 125,000 to sit for SLC supplementary test in August

Around 125,000 students who failed in maximum of two subjects in the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examination will be allowed to sit in the supplementary exams to be held in August.

According to the Office of the Controller of Examinations (OCE), 124,436 students who could not get pass marks in maximum of two subjects will take the chance exams scheduled to kick-off on August 5. As many as 55,555 students failed in one subjects while 68,881 failed in two subjects in this year’s SLC test, whose results were published on Friday. Among 405,338 students who took the SLC test in March, 213,071 students failed the exam. Of them, 88,635 failed in three or more subjects.

The OCE, however, is yet to publish the results of students under the technical category. For the first time, 3,888 students from 99 public schools across the country appeared in the SLC examination under the category and their results will be published in the grading system. According to Examination Controller Bishnu Bahadur Dware the students who get ‘E’ grades under the category, too, will get to sit for supplementary exams. “Securing ‘E’ grade means failing the exam. Such students will get the second change to improve their grades,” Dware said.
