Bagmati driving test to begin soon

- POST REPORT, Kathmandu

Jun 23, 2015-

The driving licence tests for four-wheelers and heavy vehicles will resume within 15 days, according to Department of Transport Management (DoTM).

The Ekantakuna-based Bagmati Zonal Transport Management Office had suspended the licence issuance services after the April 25 earthquake as its trial centre, in front of the National Trading Limited in Bhadrakali, was occupied by relief materials stored by Ministry of Commerce and Supplies. The trial centre was rented by the office for Rs 120,000 a month.

“We are waiting for the ministry to clear all of its stock from the trial centre. We also issued a tender notice for alternative sites on June 27,” DoTM Director Basanta Adhikari said on Tuesday. “Transport Management Office Bagmati is currently reviewing technical and economic aspects of the seven tenders received while also waiting for the Bhadrakali-based site to be cleared.” Either way, Adhikari said, the problem will be resolved within 15 days.

Trials for driving licence are being conducted smoothly in all other offices outside Kathmandu.
