The International Finance Corporation (IFC), the World Bank’s private sector arm, has provided grant assistance of $90,000 (Rs 9 million) to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment to work towards sustainability of hydro-power development in the country.

The grant assistance will contribute to providing advisory services to increase the sustainability of hydro-power development by assisting both the government and private sector to promote the adoption of good technical, environment and social international industry practices in order to reduce adverse social and environmental impact of the sector.

The ministry’s Joint-secretary Mahendra Man Gurung and IFC Nepal Director Mary Porter Peschka signed the agreement on Wednesday, said a press statement issued by the ministry.
