Weekly turnover at Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) rose 50.46 percent to Rs1.59 billion. The figure was at Rs1.05 billion at the end of the previous week. The number of traded shares too jumped to 3,115,190 units from 2,775,910.

Despite the significant rise in transaction volume, the Nepse index, however, gained a nominal 0.96 points to close at 938.96 points. The market that opened at 938 points on Sunday rose for the following days before losing points for rest of the week.

Binod Rimal, managing director of Nepal Stock House, attributed the rise in the transaction volume to rising investor confidence.
