Jul 19, 2015-
Two-wheeler majors Bajaj and Suzuki are plan to roll out new models in the domestic market next month.
While Bajaj will launch three new motorcycles under its flagship Pulsar series, Suzuki will unveil a faired version of its popular Gixxer motorbike.
HH Bajaj, authorised distributor of Bajaj for Nepal, will launch the Pulsar RS 200, AS 200 and AS 150 on August 1. The AS 150 is targeted at those looking for an affordable adventure sports motorcycle, whereas the RS 200 and AS200 are premium models aimed at those looking for more power.
“The RS 200 is our flagship model which will set a new standard in the sports bike segment. We are not after volume for this bike, but we want to establish this super sports bike as the statement among the bike enthusiasts,” said Shekhar Golchha, executive director of HH Bajaj.
The Rs 200 will be priced around Rs399,900 and the company has opened bookings. The bike is powered by four-valve spark DTSi engine with fuel injection and liquid cooling that churns out 24.5PS of power and achieves a top speed of 141kmph, according to the company.
The RS 200 features twin projector head lamps, crystal LED tail lights, aggressive muscular styling, perimeter frame and nitrox mono suspension, among others. “There are no other bikes to compete in this segment if you look at the technology, design and performance of the bike,” said Golchha.
Second in the line-up, the Pulsar AS 200 is based on the Pulsar NS platform. It is powered by the same four-valve, DTS-i, triple spark and liquid cooled engine.
However, the AS 150 is built on new perimeter frame instead of the previous 150cc Pulsar. It is powered by 149.5cc single-cylinder DTS-I engine. The AS 200 is priced at Rs284,900, while AS 150 costs Rs249,900. “All these bikes will enhance our market share along with expanding the Pulsar series,” said Golchha.
Meanwhile, VG Suzuki, authorised distributor of Suzuki motorcycles, will unveil Suzuki the Gixxer SF by the first week of August. According to company, the premium-looking Gixxer SF is a fully faired 155cc motorcycle which has been developed in the same wind-tunnel where the legendary Hayabusa, GSX-R and MotoGP machines are developed.
The fairing has been designed to give maximum wind protection to the rider, reducing turbulence and drag, thereby delivering great aerodynamic efficiency. The bike features LED tail lamps, clear-lens indicators, digital instrument cluster and aerodynamic fairing.
“The Gixxer is our highest selling bike that has given stiff competition to other bikes in this segment. We hope that this new model will be further competitive in the domestic market as the SF is sportier and has premium looks,” said Bibek Bijukchhe, CEO of the company.
