CG hands over ‘transitional homes’ to quake survivors

Jul 19, 2015-

Chaudhary Foundation has handed over 76 “transitional homes” to earthquake survivors of Burungchuli and Lukundole in Lalitpur.

Chaudhary Group Executive Director Rahul Chaudhary handed over the shelters to the locals. The homes were built under the CG Shelter project of the Foundation. Burungchuli and Lukundole are among the most-affected areas. Economically poor, disabled, single women and elderly people were the priority recipients, Chaudhary Foundation said in a statement.

It said this was the third instalment of the shelter handover, following the handover of 70 shelters in Machchhegaun of Kathmandu and 60 in Changunarayan of Bhaktapur.

Chaudhary Foundation Chairman Binod Chaudhary expressed happiness for being able to hand over CG Shelter homes to the earthquake survivors.

On May 8, the foundation had announced plan to build 1,000 transitional homes for the survivors of the April 2015 earthquake.

It had also announced it would coordinate with the donors to build an additional 9,000 homes. It said the building process of the shelters has started in Kavre, Sindhupalchok, Ramechhap, Gorkha, and Dhading.
