292 kg hashish seized from truck

HETAUDA: Police seized a huge amount of hashish from Agra-1 in Makwanpur district on Sunday. A truck with the registration number Na 2 Kha 4862 was seized with 292 kg of hashish, police said. The security personnel confiscated the hashish while it was being unloaded at a house belonging to Raju Thing. The truck staffers, Raju and his family members fled the scene upon seeing the security team. Police said their preliminary investigation suggests that the drug was brought to Agra from Gogane, Agradandakharka and bordering Kiranchok VDC in Dhading. According to police, the approximate price of the sized hashish is around Rs 10.2 million. (PR)

10 injured in Bara clash

BARA: At least 10 people were injured in a clash following a dispute over land at Mahagadimai-8 in the district on Sunday.The area remained tense throughout the day after the rival groups resorted to pelting stones and wielding batons. The injured are receiving treatment at a local health post. Police lobbed around half-a-dozen tear gas canisters to contain the situation. DSP Rabindra Regmi said additional security personnel have been deployed from Kalaiya. The clash erupted after people living on land owned by former lawmaker Shiva Chandra Kushwaha were forced to move out and their huts demolished. The dispute continued for years after Kushwaha purchased the land. Kushwaha said the clash occurred as people with political connections seized his two Katthas of land and started building houses there. (PR)
