PM: Delineation of states on cards along with statute
Jul 19, 2015-
Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has said that plans are afoot to promulgate a new constitution by delineating the boundaries of the proposed states in the new federal setup.
Speaking at a programme organised by Nepal Engineers’ Association on Sunday, PM Koirala, also the president of Nepali Congress, expressed his belief that all the parties would accept a new constitution that would ensure the rights of all the citizens.
“Since every political party leader is concerned about the country that has lagged behind due to political instability and absence of peace, a viable solution would be brought soon,” he said.
Talking about the importance of engineers and other technical human resources, he reminded them of their instrumental role in post-quake reconstruction of the nation.
Also speaking at the programme, Minister for Physical Planning and Transport Management Bimalendra Nidhi lauded the role played by the engineers in the rapid assessment of people’s houses following the earthquake.
Minister Nidhi also reiterated his position of promulgating the new constitution only after finalising the demarcation of the federal units. He also pointed out that citizenship related provisions in the draft were discriminatory.
