Nepathya all set to tour the UK
Aug 1, 2015-
After touring Australia, Dubai and Japan, Nep-athya are now all set to wow audiences in the UK on August 8. This is their second show in the UK—the first was back in 2013 at the Wembley Arena, and the venue for this performance will be the O2 Academy, Brixton.
The concert will celebrate the 200 years of friendship between Nepal and the UK. “The UK audience were incredible the last time we performed there,” says Nepathya’s frontman, Amrit Gurung. “This time, too, we hope to have a similar experience. We’re going to have great fun. This time around, it is not just a concert. It is also a celebration of the friendship we share with the UK.”
“NainaTaala is one song that we will be dedicating to Gurkha soldiers,” Gurung continues. “It was in 1972 that I first heard this song, from my grandfather and uncles, and it holds a lot of memories. We will also be playing three other songs from our new album.”
Nepathya are also set to release their tenth album, and many songs from the new collection will be featured during the UK tour.
“We have produced a one-take-recording album. It is rawer, more rock. It is like a room recording. When we tried doing it through layering individual tracks, in the usual process, we didn’t find it very enjoyable. We couldn’t feel the intimacy in the songs, but when everyone came together, as we did on this album, it all sounded much better,” say Gurung.
The band are leaving for the UK on August 6, with a 10-member entourage, and Gurung will be accompanied by his bandmates, Dhurba Lama on drums, Suraj Thapa on keyboards, Subin Shakya on bass, Niraj Gurung on the guitars and Shanti Rayamajhi on madal. The UK show is organised and coordinated by UK-based Elyte Events.
