In Visible at NAC
Invisible Photographer Asia, an organisation that promotes and creates platforms for photographers and artists, is currently featuring Rohan Thapa’s project entitled In VisibleThe photographs and artworks in the event are made specifically for vision-impaired people using the Braille writing system. The event, which started on August 9, will also be featuring a presentation by Gwahali for Differently Abled People on August 13, from 5:30 pm.
Rohan Thapa, the main organiser of the event, has in the past worked with Tilganga Institution of Ophthalmology, the famous community-based hospital that has helped many people with eye problems over the years.
Thapa’s current show will also feature a section entitled Introduction to Braille, by Bashudev Adhikari and Shushil Adhikari and another entitled Sound and Music, by Bhojendra Adhikari.
Thapa is a graduate of political science, so his works are mostly focused on political and social identities. In 2012, he published a noted article with images entitled Barcelona Burning in EMAHO magazine. The images showed residents of Barcelona protesting the high unemployment rate and welfare cuts in the city. Thapa was living in Barcelona when he took the photos.
Thapa has worked closely before with Photo Circle Nepal, who are helping Thapa stage In Visible and his show marks the 57th showcase of Photo Circle. During the event, Thapa will make a presentation about his creative process and his new experimental methods.
The exhibition will go on till August 14.
