The girl and her father, who travelling from Bajhang, arrived late night at Syaule in Dadeldhura from where they took the ambulance for their remaining journey to Dipayal.

The victim’s father informed police that the driver asked him to get off the vehicle saying that it had broken down. “As soon as I stepped out of the vehicle, he shut the ambulance door, accelerated away and tried to rape my daughter inside the ambulance,” he told the Post.

After trying to break free from the inebriated driver for about 20 minutes, the girl said she jumped off the vehicle. “He followed me so I ran barefoot for half an hour at night,” she said.
