India govt donates 40 ambulances

The Indian government on Saturday donated 40 ambulances and eight buses to different organisations and educational institutions in Nepal on the occasion of the 69th Independence Day of India.

Indian Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae handed over the vehicles to the organisations from thirty three districts amid a ceremony at the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, the embassy said in a statement.

On the occasion, Ambassador Rae read out a message of best wishes sent by President of India Pranab Mukherjee which stressed, among other things, India’s support for peace, stability and development in its neighbourhood. Rae also distributed cheques worth Rs25.3 million to 20 former soldiers and widows and next of kin of deceased soldiers of Indian Armed Forces.
