A delegation of US House of Representatives led by Vern Buchanan, who is also chairman of the House Democracy Partnership, met with Prime Minister Sushil Koirala on Tuesday and discussed wide range of matters, including strengthening Nepal-US relations, US aid to Nepal, constitution drafting process and post-quake reconstruction.

During the meeting, PM Koirala hailed the US assistance for Nepal in socio-economic development, establishing rule of law, promotion of the human rights and strengthening democratic institutions, said a statement issued by the PM’s private secretariat.

Koirala also appreciated the role played by the US in post-quake search and rescue as well as in making temporary shelter for quake-hit people and also for choosing Nepal in US Millennium Challenge Corporation.

He appraised the latest status of the constitution drafting process that is in final stage for promulgation. He said a democratic process, including taking suggestion from people, was followed in preparing the draft constitution.

Koirala also told the US Congressmen that it is an opportune time for US investors to invest in Nepal.
