Eight months after its formation, the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons (CIEDP) has finally found a proper office space at Pulchowk.

The commission moved to Sanchaykosh Building in Pulchowk this week.

Initially, the commission had been given a room at the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction. The commission had later moved to the Law Ministry.

The Cabinet on Monday promoted Mahesh Sharma Poudel as secretary of the commission. He was working as an acting secretary for the past three months.

“We will be ready to take complaints once the commission’s regulation is endorsed by the cabinet,” said Poudel.

In the past eight months, the commission prepared a code of conduct for the authorities of CIEDP, terms of reference and working procedure.

The government formed the commission in February to look into incidents of enforced disappearances.
