Kailali District Police Office is preparing to file murder case against 22 people, including Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Loktantrik (MJF-L) central member Laxman Tharu, for their alleged involvement in Tikapur riot on August 24 in which eight police officers and a two-year-old boy were killed.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Bishwaraj Khadka said the case they will soon filed the case at the District Court through the District Attorney’s Office.
“The suspects will be presented in the court in two days,” he added.
Police arrested 40 people for their alleged involvement in the incident. Of them, 18 were released on general date. Some of the suspects are still at large, DSP Khadka said.
Man shot at for defying curfew
TIKAPUR: One Dipak BK sustained bullet injuries when police opened fire in Tikapur Buspark area on Monday night. Police shot at BK while he was riding his motorcycle during the curfew hour. Police said they were compelled to fire as BK attempted to escape despite their warning.
BK, who sustained bullet injuries in his arm, was taken to Kohalpur of Banke district for treatment.
