The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has urged the government to keep the promise made to the family members of Nanda Prasad Adhikari. Adhikari died last year while staging hunger strike seeking justice for the murder of his son, Krishna Prasad, by the Maoist rebels in 2004.

His widow, Gangamaya is still staging fast-unto-death in the Capital.

The NHRC has urged the government to take action against the murderers of Krishna Prasad.

The body of Nanda Prasad is still at the morgue in Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, as his family has refused to cremate him unless the government bring the murderers of Krishna Prasad to justice.

The NHRC has said that the government has violated the right of the deceased and his family to final rites.

Meanwhile, Amnesty International has also urged the government to ensure justice to the victims of conflict period. (PR)
