Youths rally for peace, unity

KATHMANDU: Students on Friday formed a human chain at Maitighar Mandala in the Capital, calling for unity among Nepali people across the country. The event was organised by Project Nationalism Group of St Xavier’s College as an awareness campaign to send positive message for solidarity among Nepalis with diverse backgrounds. “We are not following the current trend of protest and hashtag-activism, rather we are focused on promoting the sense of nationality and brotherhood,” said Basudev Regmi, student representative of St. Xavier’s. The human chain was followed by a rally at Maitighar. (PR)

Post scribe gets health award

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Post reporter Manish Gautam has been felicitated with Mental Health Journalism Award 2015. The foundation said in a statement on Friday that Gautam was awarded for his reporting on mental and public health. The award includes a certificate of honour and a purse of Rs. 25,000. (PR)

Tandan sacked from PADT

KATHMANDU: Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Kripasur Sherpa sacked Govinda Tandan from the post of Member Secretary of Pashupati Area Development Trust on Friday. Minister Sherpa reportedly fired Tandan after the latter refused to hand over a contract for sand and crushed rocks to one Mitharam Dahal.  Saresh Nepal has replaced Tandan. PADT Executive Director Koshraj Acharya also tendered his resignation following Tandan’s ouster. He has been replaced by Ramesh Upreti. (PR)
