The event was organised by the Theatre Village, Lazimpat, in association with the British Embassy, Kathmandu, to celebrate the 200 years of diplomatic relationship between Great Britain and Nepal.
The play was staged in both Nepali and English—the Nepali version was staged on Monday and the English version on Tuesday.
The play was translated into Nepali by Shristi Bhattarai. But it was not translated only for the sake of translating; the play captured the local sensibilities and Nepali nuances, which helped the audience contextualise the complex work. The actors were also given respective names in Nepali: for example, Shristi Shrestha played the role of Ojaswi (Ophelia in the original Hamlet). The Nepali version of the play, directed by Bimal Subedi and Gregory hompson, featured actors Arpan Thapa, Aruna Karki, Kamalmani Nepal, Rajkumar Pudasaini, Bhola Raj
Sapkota, Shristi Shrestha and Shrawan Rana.
The English version of the play featured actors from the Globe Theatre, London.
