Jit Bahadur KC, the executive officer at Tripur Municipality in the district, has been arrested red-handed with bribe.

A team from the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) in Kohalpur arrested KC with Rs 100,000 from his office on Wednesday. Junga Bahadur Dangi, spokesperson at the CIAA regional office in Surkhet, said the team detained KC while he was receiving the amount from engineer Roshan Dulal.

KC allegedly demanded the amount from Dulal to renew the latter’s contract as the engineer in the municipality. Engineer Dulal had been appointed in the municipality on contract basis for two months. An all-party meeting held recently under the chairmanship of KC decided to renew Dulal’s contact for 10 more years.

It is learnt that KC demanded Rs 100,000 from Dulal in order to receive his appointment letter. “The accused has been taken into custody and an investigation into the matter is underway,” Dangi said.
