President Yadav ‘not to resign’

- Post Report, Kathmandu

Oct 28, 2015-

President Ram Baran Yadav will not resign from his post but will hand over the responsibilities to the new President amid a function at President’s Office in Sheetal Niwas once the new head of state is elected.

According to Rajendra Dahal, press adviser to the President, there is no clear constitutional provision whether he should resign. As per the international practice, said Dahal, the President will hand over his position and power to the new one. Yadav will issue a statement thanking all those who helped make his tenure a success. He is the first President of the Republic of Nepal.

The government has made no decision on the state benefits for the outgoing head of state. “The house of President Yadav in Lalitpur was damaged by the earthquake and is uninhabitable. We have got no information from the government about his alternative accommodation,” said Dahal.
