Pakistan govt congratulates Prez Bhandari

KATHMANDU: Pakistan has welcomed the election of Bidhya Devi Bhandari as the new President of Nepal. Pakistan’s President Mamnoon Hussain has felicitated the newly elected president of Nepal and has expressed the hope that Pakistan-Nepal bilateral relations will strengthen and expand further in the years ahead to the mutual benefit of the peoples of our two countries, said a statement issued by the Pakistani Embassy in Kathmandu.  The President of Pakistan also extended best wishes for the progress and prosperity of the friendly people of Nepal. Two die in road accidents

TANAHUN: A man seriously injured in a road accident at Chisapani in Bandipur-1 along Prithvi Highway died during treatment at local hospital on Friday. Police said the deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Rajendra Bhandari of Majhaphat in Kyamin-2. Bhandari who was heading to Damauli on a motorcycle collided with passenger bus, police said. Meanwhile, a man died when a jeep collided with a truck at Mahahari along East-West Highway on Friday. Police said they are yet to identify the deceased and the jeep driver, who was also hurt in the incident, is undergoing treatment. (PR)

Two held on rape charges

BHOJPUR: Police arrested a 16-year-old boy on the charge of raping a 6-year-old girl at Khawa VDC in Bhojpur district. Pujan Bista of Khawa-8 allegedly tried to rape his cousin, police said. Likewise, 76-year-old Krishna Bahadur Nagarkoti of Kavre district also has been arrested on charge of raping a 13-year-old differently abled girl. Nagarkoti was held as locals filed complaint against him. (PR)

Snowfall hits  life in Rukum

RUKUM: Normal life has been hit hard due to continuous snowfall in northern Rukum district for two days. People are forced to stay indoors as the drop in temperature has brought up to one feet of snow. There was continuous snowfall in the high lands from Thursady to Friday morning. District Police Office informed that there was snowfall in around 10 VDCs of the district. (PR)
