Police start market inspection in Bhaktapur

The Circle will be working with the DAO in monitoring artificial price hike, shortage of daily commodities and black marketeering

Nov 7, 2015-In a bid to control crime and criminal activities during Tihar and Chhath festivals, the Metropolitan Police Circle Bhaktapur has started a door-to-door programme.

“We started the campaign to control unwanted activities such as theft, robbery, gambling and alcoholism during the festivals,” said newly appointed SP Kiran Bajracharya at the Circle.

She informed that the Circle will be working with the District Administration Office in monitoring artificial price hike, shortage of daily commodities and black marketing. As the country is reeling under a fuel and cooking gas crisis, there is a high risk of an artificial price hike and adulteration in food items in the market.

Bajracharya said that 418 police personnel, both civvies and in uniform, are set to be mobilised throughout the district, to create awareness among the people and to book the culprits.

The Circle has decided to mobilise the personnel during the night time as well. It has already fixed 20 CCTV cameras in various narrow alleys of Bhaktapur.

“We have already set up the control room in our office, and are keeping a record of the people involved in criminal activities,” said Bajracharya.
