3 dead, 36 hurt in bus accident

Three people, including two children, died while 36 others sustained injuries in a minibus accident at Thamdanda in Beni Municipality-13, Myagdi, on Saturday. Some of the injured are reportedly in critical condition.
The bus (Ga 1 Kha 5366) swerved off the dirt road and fell some 100 metres. The crowded bus was heading to Beni, the district headquarters of Myagdi, from Baranja.
According to the District Police Office, Dipjal Pun (6) and Sumen Thapa (9) of Beni and Ramila Pun (20) of Baranja were killed in the accident.
They died on the spot. Twenty-seven seriously injured people were taken to Manipal Teaching Hospital in Pokhara while the others are undergoing treatment in Myagdi District Hospital.
The District Traffic Office in Myagdi said the speeding vehicle lost its control on the bend and fell over the cliff.
On Wednesday, five people died and two others were injured in a jeep accident at Beshisahar-13 in Lamjung. The vehicle veered off the road and plunged on the bank of the Marsyangdi river some 200 metres below, police said.
