A Nepal-special meeting was held in Lok Sabha, the lower house of India’s bicameral parliament, on Saturday.
Attendants of the meeting chaired by Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj suggested that the Indian government help resolve the humanitarian crisis in Nepal.
Leaders of the Indian National Congress Karan Singh and Shashi Tharoor, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Shatrughan Sinha and D Raja of the Communist Party of India were present in the meet.
DP Tripathi of the Nationalist Congress had lobbied for the special meeting amid an unofficial blockade of Nepal by India citing the agitation in the Tarai.
Swaraj told the meeting that political dialogue is necessary in Nepal to solve the problems of supply disruption.
