Sarjamin to be staged in Bangladesh
Acclaimed Nepali play, Sarjamin, will be staged in Bangladesh later this week at the Nandimukh International Theatre Festival 2015.Acclaimed Nepali play, Sarjamin, will be staged in Bangladesh later this week at the Nandimukh International Theatre Festival 2015. The festival is scheduled to be held at Chittagong Shilpakala Academy, Chittagong, Bangladesh, starting November 27. The cast and crew members of the play have left for Bangladesh, on Tuesday. The play will be staged on November 29.
The festival is organised to mark the 25 years of founding of the local Nandimukh Theatre Group.
Along with Nepal and Bangladesh, the festival will also stage plays from India and Norway.
Sarjamin will also be staged in three other cities in Bangladesh, according to the Rajan Khatiwada, creative director of Mandala Theatre Nepal.
Sarjamin, which was staged in Mandala earlier this month, is based on the story, Paribandha, penned by Pushkar Shumsher. The play has been directed by Pravin Khatiwada.
“We are very excited to have the opportunity to partake in the 25 years celebration of Nandimukh, with a Nepali performance. We hope our participation in the festival will add more colour to the festival. Our participation, I hope, will go on to create a strong cultural bonding between the two countries,” said Khatiwada.
The crew of the play includes actors Bijay Baral, Buddhi Tamang, Som Nath Khanal, Bikash Joshi, Umesh Tamang, Ranjana Oli, Binita Gurung, Rohit Poudel, Sijan Dahal, Saroj Guragain, and Basudev Khadka.
