UML cadres’ meet begins in Chitwan
A two-day meeting of central and regional leaders of the ruling CPN-UML began in Sauraha, Chitwan, on Monday.A two-day meeting of central and regional leaders of the ruling CPN-UML began in Sauraha, Chitwan, on Monday. The jamboree is set to discuss the Madhes agitation and the party’s plans to disseminate the new constitution among the public.
Twenty-two district chairpersons, leaders in charge of the UML zonal committees and central members of the party attended the meet. As many as 280 party officials are expected to take part in the event.
Prime Minister KP Oli, former prime minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, former minister Surendra Pandey and Regional Publicity Department chief Yogesh Bhattarai are among the central leaders to address the party cadres.
Addressing the assembly on Monday, PM Oli accused the agitating Madhes-based parties of not being serious about resolving the Tarai standoff through dialogue with the government.
Three political papers were presented to the gathering. The document presented by UML General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel discussed the unrest in the Tarai and the party’s vision of a solution.
Party Deputy General Secretary Ghanashyam Bhusal presented a paper related to the Indian blockade and a possible way out. In his presentation, UML Secretary Pradeep Gyawali discussed the ongoing Madhes agitation and the country’s socio-economic transformation.
