KIMFF to host films from 25 countries
The 13th edition of the much-awaited Kathmandu International Film Festival begins on Thursday at the Kumari Hall, in Kamalpokhari, Kathmandu.The 13th edition of the much-awaited Kathmandu International Film Festival begins on Thursday at the Kumari Hall, in Kamalpokhari, Kathmandu. The film festival will host a wide array of films and documentaries—90 in total—from Nepal and abroad.
The organisers hosted a press meet on Wednesday at the Nepal Tourism Board, in Bhrikutimandap. The event saw discussion about the current trend of films in general in Nepal The event also saw the screening of three sample films that are scheduled to be screened at the festival as well.
Speaking during the event, Kedar Sharma, compared the filmmaking scene now and then, when the festival was first started in 2000.
We started the festival when there were not much resources available. Now with a click of your fingers you can see the whole world. Still, there are some reasons why our filmmaking has not fostered as much as it had to. Film festvals like this one, I hope, will create an exciting atmosphere for the new filmmakers to come uip with films.” said, Sharma.
This sample films show the variety of subjects the films to be screened at KIMFF will have to offer.
The film fest will be featuring 90 films—both fiction and documentaries—from 25 different countries across the globe. Organised by Himal Association, the festival will continue until Dec 14.
