A group of three men allegedly took the girl, a resident of Taranga VDC, to Kankrebihar forest and committed the crime on Sunday. The girl said trio had taken her to the forest on a motorcycle promising to drop her at her residence.
Based on a complaint lodged by the victim, police arrested Top Bahadur Gurung, 30, Binod GC, 31, and Sher Bahadur KC, 31, of Birendranagar-1. Deputy Superintendent of Police Bahadur Jung Malla said KC and GC were held on Sunday while Gurung was nabbed the following day.
The victim claimed the perpetrators snatched her bag and forced her to ride on the motorcycle while she was preparing to go home in a jeep. According to her, one of the men raped her at Kankrebihar forest and later took her to Krishna Community Forest where she was gang-raped.
The girl, who was left at the forest after the crime, was rescued by security personnel. Police said a case has been filed against the arrested trio.
Meanwhile, the District Court in Syangja has slapped 18-year jail term to a 35-year-old man convicted of raping his daughter. A single bench of Judge Chandra Bahadur Saru gave the verdict against the man from Waling-5. The man was arrested seven months ago on the charge of raping his 12-year-old daughter. The court also slapped the convict with a fine of Rs 50,000.
