KiMFF receives warm welcome
The 13th edition of Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KiMFF) kicked off on Thursday at Kumari Hall, Kamal Pokhari.The 13th edition of Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KiMFF) kicked off on Thursday at Kumari Hall, Kamal Pokhari. The film festival started with the screening of Bhagyale Bachekaharu (Nepal Earthquake: Heroes, Survivors and Miracles), a documentary film by Ganesh Panday.
Prasunna Dongol, PR Coordinator at KiMFF said, “KiMFF not only covers a spectrum of documentaries and adventure cinema, it has, over the years, become a hub for film enthusiasts to come together and connect through documentaries.”
A total of six films were screened on the first day of the film festival. The jury for this year’s edition include British climber and journalist Ed Douglas, Korean film scholar Eun young Kim, Indian film editor Namrata Rao and film critic Premendra Nath Mazumdar, who will judge the best three documentaries in the international competition and the top documentary film and fiction film in the Nepal Panorama selection. There is also a short film competition, Seismic Shift,which focuses on the experiences of Nepalis during the quakes. The top ten films will be screened and awarded at KiMFF.
The film festival will be screening more than 80 films from 25 countries. The festival, organised by Himal Association, will continue till December 14.
