The government was all set to table the Bill on reconstruction after the Morcha leaders gave their consent considering its urgency. But the main opposition obstructed the proceedings, arguing that the constitution amendment bill should get priority in order to end the Tarai crisis and blockade. The NC objected to removing the agenda from the work schedule of Parliament.
NC lawmaker Ramesh Lekhak said the government is indifferent towards ending the Tarai crisis. “Reconstruction is an important business but constitution amendment is also vital one which should be tabled in Parliament,” he said. No sooner Lekhak completed his speech than NC lawmakers protested in Parliament and Speaker Onsari Gharti postponed the meeting.
The Legislation Committee of Parliament had on Wednesday endorsed the Reconstruction Authority Bill, along with a note of dissent from the NC.
