Snowfall was recorded since Saturday morning in the district.
An inch of snow has blanketed the district headquarters in Simikot. Rainfall was also recorded in the district after four months.
With this, air services have been disrupted in Simikot Airport. All the flights to and from were cancelled due to the snowfall. A visible decrease in human activities was witnessed in market places. Most of the shops remained closed due to the severe cold. Locals in Limi and Muchu VDCs, along the Tibetan border, have also suffered due to the bone-chilling cold.
Human settlements in these VDCs are disconnected with the district headquarters. Some in Limi have already left for lower altitude regions to avert the cold.
