Thapa to fly to Nepal-UK bicentenary reception
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Kamal Thapa is leaving for the United Kingdom on Tuesday to attend a special bicentenary reception hosted by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office in LondonDeputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Kamal Thapa is leaving for the United Kingdom on Tuesday to attend a special bicentenary reception hosted by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London on December 16 to commemorate the 200 years of Nepal-Britain relations.
During his stay, Thapa will also participate in the Second Nepal-UK Bilateral Meeting in London. The issue of Nepal Army Col Kumar Lama, who is facing a trial in the UK for committing human rights violations during the Maoists insurgeny in Nepal, is also expected to be discussed between the two sides.
According to the Foreign Ministry, Thapa will also
meet British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Philip Hammond, MP; Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Hugo Swire, MP; DFID Minister Desmond Swayne, MP; and the Nepalis living in the UK.
