Germany has pledged 30 million euro (around Rs 3.51 billion) to for earthquake rehabilitation programme in Nepal. To that end, Finance Secretary Lokdarshan Regmi and  German Ambassador to Nepal Matthias Meyer  signed an agreement in Kathmandu on Monday.

According to the German Embassy, the German aid includes Financial Cooperation Recovery Programme (25 million euro), implemented by German Development Bank-KfW on behalf of the Government of Germany.

The programme will focus on reconstruction of district hospitals severely damaged by the earthquake and rural energy distributions networks.

A substantial support under this programme will also be directed towards the rehabilitation of cultural heritage sites, schools and roads in the city of Bhaktapur.

The remaining 5 million euro will come from German Agency for International Cooperation—GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusam-menarbeit). The sum will fund the projects related to healthcare services, housing facilities and other urgent needs with a regional focus on Dhading, Nuwakot, Rasuwa and Bhaktapur districts.
