The Bijay Kumar Gachhadar-led Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Loktantrik has urged Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to implement the eight-point agreement signed with the only Tarai-based party in government.

In the deal signed before the formation of the incumbent government, Oli had agreed to address the grievances of the Madhesi and Tharu communities over numerous issues including federalism, delineation of federal states and inclusion.

A team led by MJF-L Chair and Deputy Prime Minister Gachhadar submitted a memorandum to PM Oli, raising concerns over the delay in addressing the demands of Madhes. The memo also calls for martyr status for those killed during the Madhes agitation, compensation for those whose houses and property were destroyed or looted and withdrawal of cases filed against party cadres. Party leaders including Senior Vice-chairperson Rameshwor Raya Yadav and Vice-chairman Govinda Chaudhary were also present. Prime Minister Oli responded that he was positive about the implementing the agreement.
