NWA finalises 17 players for SAG

Following the selection tournament, six men and three women were picked up from sansau, while four each were selected from the taulo events. Players winning their events were selected for the regional games.
Raj Kumar Rasaili (men’s 52kg) of Bhaktapur, Rajesh Chaudhary (56kg) of Kailali, Mangal Prasad Tharu (60kg) of Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club, Saroj Pun (65kg) of Banke, Chitra Singh Thakuri (70kg) of Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) and Dhabir Maharjan (75kg) of Kathmandu were selected from the men’s sansau.
Jharan Gurung (52kg) of Kaski, Juni Rai (70kg) of Nepal Police Club and Bindu Pun Magar (75kg) of TAC made it through from women’s sansau.
In taolu events, Yubaraj Thapa of APF won the men’s nanquan/nan gunshu and Nima Gharti Magar of TAC triumphed in women’s nanquan/nan daoshu. Hari Prasad Gole of TAC qualified from men’s taijiquan/ taijijian with his clubmate Sabita Rai making it through in the women’s section.
Bishwo Budha Magar (men’s gunshu/daoshu) and Oshin Rai (women’s qiangshu/jianshu) of TAC were also selected. On Saturday, Bijaya Thapa Sinjali of TAC and Sushmita Tamang of APF were picked up from the men’s and women’s chanquan.
In all, 115 players took part in the selection tournament of the discipline which is making its appearance in the Games for third time. Nepal had won two gold medals each in the 10th and 11th editions.
