10 remanded in custody on charge of misappropriation

Dec 25, 2015-The Patan District Court on Thursday remanded ten people, including former Chief of Bureau of Standards and Metrology Ram Adhar Sah, in custody on charge of misappropriation.Sah was involved in introducing a fuel meter tampering technology. During his tenure as the chief of Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology, he facilitated the installation of meter-tampering devices at petrol pumps and used to get a cut for his illicit services. Sah had been blackmailing petrol pump owners, police said.
Sah had also brought in Nashim Siddiqui, a technician from the Indian state of Bihar, to get the tampering device installed at petrol pumps in the Valley. Siddiqui is also remanded to custody.The Kathmandu District Court also remanded three persons including Rabin Sharma, chief of NOC Thankot Depot, to judicial custody on charge of fraud and black-marketeering while abetting “wicked deeds”.
Police had arrested Sharma and Sah a month back and cases were filed against them last week at the court.
