Valley Public, HHCA in semis
KATHMANDU: Valley Public and Himalaya Health Care Academy (HHCA) entered both the boys’ and girls’ finals of the 10th Valley Public Inter-school Basketball Tournament here on Thursday. Valley Public defeated Bhadrakali 38-33 and HHCA overcame Greenland 37-29 in the boys’ semi-finals. In the girls’ semi-final matches, the hosts eased to a 43-17 victory over Innovative and HHCA ousted Bagmati 28-13. The final is scheduled for Friday.
6-A-Side football from today
KATHMANDU: Ideal English Higher Secondary School is organising the first Ideal Cup Inter-college 6-A-Side Boys’ Football Tournament here from Friday. A total of 16 teams will participate in the tournament that offers cash prizes of Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000
for the top two finishers. The best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and forward will also get their share of cash prizes, informed the organisers during a press conference.
Malpi claim double title
KATHMANDU: Malpi Institute claimed double title of the fifth Inter-A Level College Basketball Tournament on Thursday. Malpi defeated Rato Bangala in both boys’ and girls’ title showdowns. Tournament MVP Wangel Gurung netted 25 points as
Malpi won the boys’ semi-finals 66-47. In the girls’ final, Malpi registered a narrow 21-16
victory with Saloni Sherchan chipping in a crucial six points. Kelshang Sherpa of Malpi was named the MVP in girls’ section.
Gurung enters semi-finals
LALITPUR: Amrit Thapa Magar entered the men’s singles semi-finals of the third Civil Bank Squash Championships on Thursday. Amrit defeated Saroj Shrestha 8-11, 11-9, 11-9, 11-4. Arhant Keshar Singh and Praveen Bir Singh Kansakar followed Gurung in the last four. Singh overcame Nain Magar 11-9, 11-2, 11-6 and Kansakar edged Sujon Jwarchan 11-6, 7-11, 11-3, 11-6. Bhawana Sunwar, Sapana Blon, Krishna Thapa and Bipana Blon entered the girls’ singles last four. Bijaya Magar, Amir Blon, Deepak Thapa and Bikram Magar reached boys’ U-17 semi-finals.
