The 36-year-old, who returned from Honk Kong this year, visited Tundikhel with her family members to participate in the festival observed by the Gurung community of Nepal.
“It is great seeing young people in traditional attire. They are upholding our tradition,” said Nani Maya.
Tundikhel echoed with music throughout Wednesady as the people from the Gurung community performed their traditional song and dance.
Anisha Basnet, 27, who had come to witness the festival with her friends, said she enjoyed Chudka dance.
“This is the way to celebrate. Though this festival is celebrated by Gurungs, people from different communities are here. This is a way to maintain harmony and embrace the variety of cultures in our country,” said Anisha.
Besides merriment and celebration, the event also showcased the arts and culture of Gurung community.
The Gurung community in other parts of the country also celebrated Tamu Lhosar on Wednesday.
The festival is celebrated on Poush 15 of the Nepali calendar which marks the New Year of Gurung community.
