According to them, the KP Sharma Oli-led government has failed to resolved the Tarai crisis and provide relief to earthquake victims.
The criticism from RPP comes days after party’s General Secretary Deepak Bohara was inducted in the Cabinet by Prime Minister Oli.
Bohara joined the Oli Cabinet on December 24 as minister for labour and employment and commerce.
Majority of leaders addressing the three-day CWC meeting that concluded in the Capital on Tuesday said that the party must build pressure on the government to work for the welfare of the general public.
This was the first CWC meeting of the RPP held after resolving internal feud in the party was called to evaluate the performance of the government, discuss crisis in the country and formulate party’s future course.
Pashupati SJB Rana, the outgoing chairman of the party, said the Oli-led government has “fully failed to address the present need of the people”.
Out of two dozen CWC members, majority of them came down heavily on the government, flaying it for increasing the number of ministers at a time when the country is reeling under crisis.
Hari Bahadur Banset, Jagat Gauchan and Meena Sudedi among others argued that RPP’s participation in the government may ruin the party image “if the government fails to mend it ways”. They also criticised the border-centric protests of the Madhes-based parties, urging Madhesi leaders to organise other forms of protests. They also urged both the government and the agitating parties to end present deadlock through dialogue.
The meeting also dwelt on the possible candidates for the Ministry of Commerce, which has been allocated for the party. Jayanta Chand, son of newly appointed party Chairman Lokendra Bahadur Chand, is likely to be named for the ministry.
