UML kicks off constitution publicity campaign in Jhapa

The two-month campaign entitled “Campaign for Constitution Implementation and National Unity Strengthening” was inaugurated by party Chairman and Prime Minister KP Oli amid a function attended by most of the senior party leaders, including Jhala Nath Khanal, General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel and former Constituent Assembly Chair Subas Nembang.
According to party’s Deputy Spokesperson Surya Thapa, the party is scheduled to hold zonal level gatherings across the country to clear ‘illusions’ over the newly adopted constitution and to promote communal harmony.
The party hierarchy has instructed leaders and cadres on the field to make public aware about progressive provisions of the new constitution and efforts being made to accommodate missing rights into it. The leaders have been tasked gather details about loss of people and properties during Madhes and Tharu protests and assess impact of the unofficial Indian blockade. The party has mobilised its sister wings, including Youth Association Nepal, for the purpose.
The party had concluded
at a recent meeting in Chitwan that it should expose “misinterpretation of new constitution” and begin a campaign
to raise awareness among backward and marginalised communities such as Dalit, Muslim and Chamar in
the region.
