Dolakha folk enraged at PM Oli’s remarks
- film city plan
Minister Ananda Prasad Pokharel has assured locals of providing funds
Jan 3, 2016-Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s recent remarks that the government will establish Nepal’s first film city in Gorkha, Tanahun or Lamjung instead of Dolakha has enraged local residents in the district.
Nepali Congress cadres in the district have been protesting against the PM’s remarks. On Friday, some enraged locals even tried to prevent Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Ananda Prasad Pokharel from participating in a programme due to the same reason.
Minister Pokharel, however, assured locals that the government is committed to developing the film city in Dolakha itself. He also promised that the government will provide Rs 20 million this year to construct infrastructures for the film city.
In the past, the then Communication Minister Minendra Rijal also indirectly refused to construct the film city in the Dandunge hill area. Local authorities, meanwhile, have offered to help develop infrastructures for the proposed film city in the Dandunge area.
The Dandunge hill of Dolakha was proposed as the country’s first film city due to its natural beauty.
