Blockade will be lifted soon, says Deuba
Blockade will be lifted soon, says DeubaNepali Congress leader Sher Bahadur Deuba has said the Indian economic blockade will be lifted soon after Parliament endorses the constitution amendment bill.
Noting that the demands of Madhes-based parties will be addressed by the amendment bill, the main opposition leader on Tuesday said the blockade will end on the day the bill is endorsed.
“We are ready to discuss the agenda of Madhes-based parties, we will find a way out of this crisis,” Deuba said, dismissing allegation that he was not in supporting the efforts to resolve the dispute with the agitating Madhes-based
parties. He claimed Nepal-India ties have not soured
due to the blockade.
The NC leader also said that he was going to run for the party’s president in the upcoming General Convention. “I am holding
discussions with my friends and supporters inside the party. I will soon make a
formal announcement of my candidacy,” he said.
