Indian Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) have dug pits round border pillars along a section of Nepal-India border from Masjadiya to Jhagariyapur in Gulariya Municipality-13.
Local authorities said such pits are constructed at around 15 pillars located at the distance of 50 metres each. They said the Indian side dug such pits without even informing the Nepali side. Local resident Shrinibash Barma said the pits are dug at the no man’s land and that the Nepali security forces are unaware of the activity. Officiating Chief District Officer Shrinath Paudel said he was not informed about matter. A team of municipality officials led by Executive Officer Dharmaraj Neupane reached the incident site for inspection. “Dozens of pits were dug unilaterally,” he said.
Local residents said government authorities did not pay attention towards the activity of the SSB as the area that lies in remote location. They said SSB dug such pits to relocate the border pillars. SSB officials, however, did not want to comment on the matter.
