The 22nd edition of CAN Info Tech will begin at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu on January 28.The six-day event, being organised by the Computer Association of Nepal (CAN) Federation, aims at imparting knowledge on technological advancement and display a number of latest products.

The expo will feature 175 stalls, including 49 in the main exhibhition hall and 104 in three branding rooms outside the exhibhtion hall, CAN said, adding that there will also be five food stalls. The expo will feature sales and maintainance of hardware components, power solution, mobile phones and mobile accessories, among others.Vistors will also get to meet dealers and distributors of

popular IT brands, Internet Service Providers (ISPs),software solution and payment solution. “All the stalls inside the main hall have been booked, while 90 percent of the space outside the main hall has been occupied,” CAN said in a statement on Tuesday.

A total of 331,001 people visited the event last year, and the association is expecting that figure to cross 400,000 mark this time around. Tickets are priced at Rs100, with a 50 percent discount for the students.

According to CAN, ISPs in particular will be announcing special discount packages and high-speed internet during the expo. Like in the previous years, cell phones and accessories such as laptops and other hardware and software components on sale at discount will be another highlight of the event. For the first time, CAN will be streaming the event live at its website www.can.org.np <http://www.can.org.np> and www.caninfotech.org.np <http://www.caninfotech.org.np>.The association will continue with its tradition of hosting an annual conference on the sidelines of the expo. The conference entitled “Cyber Security: Challenges and Solutions for Developing Economies” will be held on February 1 and 2 in Kathmandu. Critical Infrastructure and Protection, Combating Cyber security Incidents in Nepal, Security of e-Enable Services and Applications and Surveillance and Privacy, among others

topics, will be discussed during the conference.
