Pentagon, KCTC register wins

In the first match, KCTC beat Penatgon by 18 runs. KCTC posted 157-7 and restricted Pentagon for 139-6.
Pentagon had a decent start after Somesh Yadav and Jeevan Lamsal (18) added 55 runs for the first wicket. Robin Chhetri then put brakes on Pentagon charge with three dismissals. Yadav scored 26 off 36 with two boundaries.
Dhiraj Adhikari and Abhinash Adhikari tried to consolidate the innings with a fourth wicket 54-run stand for but they failed to take the team across the finish line. Both batsmen made 24 runs.
Earlier, KCTC were reduced to 30-2 before Adil Khan and Sudhir Maharjan (nine) added 49 runs for the third wicket. Khan made 39 off 26 with four boundaries and two sixes. After Khan’s dismissal, a 55-run fifth wicket stand between Sumit Maharjan (20) and Jitendra Thakuri, put them in a strong position.
Thakuri made 33 off 26 with three fours and a six. Opener Manish Sahani played an 18-ball cameo of 25 with five boundaries. Navin Kumar Yadav and Abhinash picked up two wickets each for Penatgon.
IOE edged Tribhuvan University by seven runs in the second match of the day. Three modest contributions took IOE to 139 all out in 19.4 overs after they decided to bat first. In reply, TU could only muster 132-6 in 20 overs.
Openers Santosh Kumar Shah and Abhishek Basnet (10) gave TU a 51-run opening wicket stand but their middle order failed to build on the start. No 3 batsman Anup Shrestha top scored for TU with 38 off 24 hitting three fours and a six. Shah made 30 off 27 with four boundaries.
