According to Rai, the end of embargo at key Nepal-India border points, seeking political solution of the unrest in Tarai through talks, installation of national reconstruction of the authority of damaged infrastructure and launching of reconstruction campaign are some good works performed by the government, he claimed.
“India’s unofficial blockade on the country that was imposed with the formation of this government will soon be lifted. Talks with the concerned sides have reached the final phase”, Rai said in an interaction in the Capital on Sunday.
He added that the government will soon announce the end of political standoff and the embargo.
“Once we reach an agreement with agitating Madhes-based political parties, we will announce the end of protracted political transition that will be decided by the top political leadership.”
Besides, Rai said, the government finally kick-started the reconstruction of the earthquake-damaged structures with clearing off hurdles for the same and is committed to accelerating the reconstruction campaign at a war-footing level, he added.
Minister Rai said the government will continue to work for economic progress and infrastructure development with the effective enforcement of the new constitution.
He also said the Oli government has sent a high-level team to China to make preparations for signing of a new trade deal on fuel supply.
“Preparations for the Prime Minister’s China and India visits are also afoot,” he said.
Rai also defended Prime Minister Oli from the critics who had ridiculed him for declaring ambitious plans to end the country’s energy crisis in a short duration.
“The government will unveil its substantive plan to materialise its goals within the next few days,” Rai said.
